This was a fun mysterious heartfelt, family novel. Landry has worked hard to start over after her husband’s death and a series of odd events starts putting everything she has worked for at risk. Working to give her daughter everything and to do things on her own, to be self sufficient and to have a career has been hard but she has done it. She swore she would never rely on a man again, and she has just about reached the full dream when she has house plans drawn up but when a fire breaks out and destroys all of her product she is going to have to put those plans on hold. But something doesn’t seem right, and as more crimes happen the Shaw family steps in to help Landry and her daughter while the investigation heats up. Really trying to do everything on her own, Landry realizes that it is ok to have others help, and sometimes a little help is all you need to achieve your dreams. I really enjoyed this storyline and all of the characters. Even though there were a lot, it was easy to keep them all straight and I loved the little family tree in the front of the book. I really enjoyed McKenzie charactery as well.

Lynn H.
