Pigeon-Blood Red by Ed Duncan

Rico is on another job for his gangster boss, but this one he in a way put himself into. Now his mission is to fix what he started and that is hunting down the pigeon-blood red necklace that has fallen into the very wrong hands of someone who owes his boss debt. This someone who has proven he cannot handle finances or business and Rico is caught in the middle when he is put into a precarious situation involving innocent bystanders and someone he cares deeply for.

This novel starts action packed from page one and takes the adventure from Chicago to Hawaii, and it seems what can go wrong does go wrong in this first thrilling novel in a new series. I enjoyed this one and the various characters that gave this story more depth. Although all seemed to be tied up, it will be interesting to see what book two brings. Thank you to the author and Book Publicity Services for the complementary novel, this review is of my own opinion and accord.

Synopsis:

For underworld enforcer Richard “Rico” Sanders, it seemed like an ordinary job. Retrieve his gangster boss’s priceless pigeon-blood red ruby necklace and teach the double-dealing cheat who stole it a lesson. A job like a hundred before it. But the chase quickly goes sideways and takes Rico from the mean streets of Chicago to sunny Honolulu, where the hardened hit man finds himself in uncharted territory when a couple of innocent bystanders are accidentally embroiled in the crime.

As Rico pursues his new targets, the hunter and his prey develop an unlikely respect for one another and Rico is faced with a momentous decision: follow his orders to kill the couple whose courage and character have won his admiration, or refuse and endanger the life of the woman he loves?
