The Assassin’s Protégé by Alison Blasdell

This was different from Alison’s historical novels and I loved it! I loved the thrill, the characters and the realistic storyline. Ainsley is trying to start over in Hawaii flying helicopters for tourists and has no idea her life is about to change and the skills she learned in her past will aid her to stay alive as she gets pulled into a high espionage case that runs dirty, all way to the top of the government. Dick who used to be in the CIA, now works as a self-employed assassin and is about to meet his match while try to retrace the last steps of a murdered associated. Finding himself in Hawaii, he gets to work on his current target and his case changes unexpectedly and quickly and now is he not only trying to figure out where the evidence leads, he now has to continue to save the life of a woman who does not take direction or orders when told to do something. Ainsley and Dick play a game of cat and mouse with those who are hot on their trail and as well between themselves as they both learn to trust the other. The two will need to work together as the number of those they need to protect keeps growing and the evidence keeps leading to other countries and higher up in the government than anyone would have thought. I really enjoyed this thrill ride and look forward to the possibility of more Ainsley and Dick cases.

Thank you to the author for the complementary novel. This review is of my own opinion and accord.
